Advanced Placement and University Preparation

Waterloo Independent School offers a dynamic curriculum for Grades 11 and 12, aimed at deepening academic understanding and preparing students for post-secondary success. Our curriculum is designed to meet university and career readiness standards, ensuring students are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

Mandatory Courses

  • Advanced Placement Courses: Challenge students with college-level coursework, offering opportunities for advanced credit and university preparation.

  • Specialized University Prep Courses: Target specific skills and knowledge required for university programs, focusing on areas like advanced sciences, mathematics, and humanities.

University Expressed Program (UEP)
​

The WIS UEP ensures students meet the requirements of the Canadian universities’ admissions. Students from Canada and overseas who demonstrate outstanding performance are eligible to apply for UEP.

 

Students who enroll in the UEP will be prepared from a variety of perspectives for academic, extra-curricular, contests, and language levels which the Top Universities in Canada require.

Fast-Track and Challenge Program

Waterloo Independent School's Fast-Track Program is a Grade 12 pre-university program and its duration is 5 months. It is aimed at qualified students who plan to enter university in September of the same school year. Students will complete 6 grade 12 university prep. level courses and complete other supplemental requirements of the universities.
